The George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF) is a philanthropic foundation, and the creator and supporter of many innovative Tulsa programs, organizations, and experiences, including the Gathering Place, Tulsa Artist Fellowship, and the Birth through Eight Strategy for Tulsa (BEST).
The City of Tulsa has specific efforts devoted to creating employment, professional development, and social opportunities for college students and young professionals in Tulsa.
Stakeholders from GKFF, the City of Tulsa, and TYPROS became aware of the unique situation that 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic was creating for rising college juniors and seniors, who count on this summer as a critical stepping stone to post-college employment. The stakeholders, along with help from Atento Capital and The Mine in facilitating the program, expedited their existing plan for SummerTulsa programming, in order to create opportunities in 2020 for these students in Tulsa. Following success in summer 2020, SummerTulsa is excited to become an annual program!
SummerTulsa — a program of Campus Tulsa — takes learning beyond the college classroom by connecting incoming college juniors and seniors to local entrepreneurs and business and community leaders, who are putting Tulsa on the map for culture and innovation.
